Christian Porter appointed Chief Commercial Officer at Keolis Downer

Christian Porter joins Keolis Downer as Chief Commercial Officer, effective from 4 January 2021, reporting to the CEO, David Franks.

Prior to joining Keolis Downer, Christian was Group Executive General Manager, Corporate Strategy for Downer, supporting the development of the group’s portfolio strategy, overseeing revenue planning, and reviewing potential new markets aligned to urban services.

Christian brings a wealth of experience in the Australian and New Zealand transport and civil infrastructure markets, working for large companies like Downer and the CIMIC Group over the past 20 years. He has been part of successful teams that bid and delivered some of the region’s largest road, rail and public transport schemes across the spectrum of procurement models.

“I am delighted to welcome Christian to the team. He has been working closely with Keolis Downer for the past five years, leading the successful bid for the Newcastle Integrated Services contract, winning several trials for the award-winning Keoride On demand transport service, supporting the Yarra Trams franchise extension, supporting the Adelaide Metro train services bid, and more recently leading our bus bids in Greater Sydney”, said David Franks.

“In this new role, his main focus will be to drive revenue growth within established operations, support our customers as they introduce future transport technology, and to continue to grow Keolis Downer’s footprint in Australia and New Zealand.”

Commenting on the appointment, Christian Porter said he was excited to be taking the role.

“I have enjoyed working with Keolis Downer in recent years and have long been impressed by Keolis Downer’s values, vision and command of market-leading innovations. I am looking forward to working with the team to strengthen the group’s position as a leading multimodal operator. We have a great culture, the broadest capability in the market, and a winning strategy that has enabled us to grow in an increasingly competitive market. I am committed to supporting the leadership team to build on this momentum and take Keolis Downer to the next level.”
